Playground Memories

I really miss when the highlight of my day use to be finding a playground so that I can swing. That was my all time favorite thing to do as a child. I miss when everything was simple and easy. When my only worry was hoping there was someone fun to play with outside that day. I never took my childhood for granted, but boy do I wish I could go back! I still try to keep a piece of it by watching cartoons and actually going to the playground to swing!

Of course when I decide to do a shoot, it wants to rain. Well, it didn't actually rain but the clouds were formed, so all of my good sunlight was gone. I really hate when the lighting is bad. The pictures just aren't the same.

On a good note, the other day I submitted my pics into a modeling competition for designer Marcc Clark. I was so happy to find out that I was chosen to compete. It's a Facebook competition, so whoever gets the most likes and comments win! The prize is an all expense paid trip to New York for a photo shoot to be in his upcoming campaign. I would really appreciate you guys support. The pics go up on the 30th! I'll post more info then.

D.I.Y| Two Tone Dyed & Ripped Denim Shorts

Yesterday I tried a DIY project that came out great! I got the idea from The Fashion Citizens on YouTube. It's purple and turquoise dyed denim, a great look for spring and summer. Later, I will try to do pretty pastel colors and cropped tye dye t-shirts. Cute looks that I've seen floating around.

P.s. Waiting for you guys to "like" the fan page! Located at the top of this post! ; )

What I did:

  • I bought a pair of denim shorts from the thrift store.
  • I cut and ripped them to my liking.
  • Bought some clothing dye from Wal-mart for $2.
  • Got a bucket, salt, scissors, and boiled some water.
  • Mixed the salt and dye in the hot water.
  • Placed the bottom half of the shorts in the purple dye. Let sit for 3 minutes.
  • Placed the top half of the shorts in the turquoise dye and let that sit for 3 minutes.
  • Rinsed the shorts off with cold water and placed them in the dryer to dry and so that my rips can fray.
That's it!

Thrift Store Haul!

I went to the thrift store on Monday searching for some new eye catching pieces. The thrift store I went to is one of my favorites but this time it did not deliver. I usually go there and find tons of things but no this time. It seemed like they needed to re-stock. I did, however, find some things that are my new favs.

A beautiful spring colored blazer. I wanted a range of pastel colored blazers but this was all they really had.

Something I actually went there to get. High waist jeans. My favorite buy. I bleached & ripped these pants.

A cute pair of green & navy striped shorts. Way to big for me but I had to have them. I might take them in or just wear them big for a tomboy-ish look.

A black fitted blazer. Something else I actually went there looking for. It's a little too dressy for my taste but it'll do for now.

Really pretty floral print maxi skirt. I love the color of it. I wasn't sure about it at first but I ended up getting it anyway and now I love it!

A very beautiful colorful top. A stand out piece. I actually plan on making this into a crop top but I'm not sure yet. It's pretty big but it still look nice the way it is

These were a pair of regular denim shorts but I ripped and dyed them today. I'll share how in another post. The color is purple and turquoise. It's much more vibrant in real life but you'll be able to see that in that post and in the video I made.

All the clothes purchased were no more than $5. The total cost was $23. A bit much for me. I usually get way more for less but I'm not complaining. I love everything I purchased.

Here's a video of the clothes I got. You can see what they look like on and you can see what the pants and shorts looked like before I re-did them.

Colorful Head Wrap

As you can see the braids didn't quite work out. I'll have to wait a month or two before I can install them. My hair isn't long enough for how big I want the braids to be and I don't want small braids. So, I'll just have to wait longer (sad face). In the mean time I'll be happily rocking my short blonde hair for now.

Now to the head wrap. I got this scarf a long time ago when I was in high school. I think it came from Macy's. At the time, I loved the scarf but eventually grew tired of it. So, it just sat in my dresser collecting dust. I still took it with me when I went to college just "in case" I could make some use of it. Still didn't until recently. I love the head wrap/turban trend and I have yet to go out and purchase more scarves. I only own three including this one, so I finally decided to use it and I'm in love again!

I had to take all of my pictures by myself. Hard task! I decided to go ahead and get use to it because once I move to Miami I won't have anyone to do it for me. At least until I meet my new best friend. So bare with me. I also filmed a video by myself which took all of my light! From now on I'll be getting by butt up and doing shoots in the morning. Hopefully I'll get better at this!

P.S.- using a self timer sucks!

Denim on Denim

It was a beautiful day! After all the rain the other day, you wouldn't think it would clean up so nicely. So, I have no complaints about the picture quality. Perfect weather for shooting. My camera works it's absolute best in this kind of lighting. It's the only way it works good actually.

Today, I will be installing box braids! I'm super excited. I'm so tired of the hair I have now and I've been wanting box braids for months now! Ever since I've been seeing this new "waist length" style I've been dieing for them. I was over them at one point but I see them in a new light now. People have been styling them so nicely that I must try.

It'll probably take me all week to do. The goal is to complete them in two days but we'll see. I get so lazy sometimes. They also might look crazy. I have jet black braiding hair and MY hair is blonde. That should be interesting. I probably should have got a brownish black. Oh well. Next time you see me I will be braided up, hopefully.

I like this look better with the shirt tucked out. Like in the second pic above. Now that I really look at this look, I would like it better with my combat boots. I was dieing to put on these heels though. I have no clue
why.

New music my Solange. I love it.

Downtown Chic

It's raining cats and dogs here! I actually shot this post while it was raining so the quality sucks! Just a heads up!

This outfit reminds me of Erykah Badu for some reason. Seems like something she would wear. I love it to death. This has become one of my favorite outfits. I think it's really edgy and bold. I want to stick to outfits like this for a while. I have been getting bored with my wardrobe again. Typical me.

Cute & Casual

It was extremely hot yesterday! So, I wanted to keep cool as much as possible! Of course that didn't work. I still in enjoyed wearing these new thrifted shorts I got from the thrift store in Daytona. It became an instant fav. I can't wait to do some more thrift shopping so I can stalk my closet with beautiful spring/summer colors!

I've been spending my days in Orlando, usually out somewhere with my boyfriend. I only have a limited time with him. I have to go home to Virgina, while he stays here in Florida in school. Even when I come back in July I'll be far since I'm moving to Miami. So, we're squeezing the hell out of all the time we have!

The photos are suck-y. The sun was going down by the time I decided to shoot them. *womp womp*
